Neighborhood Update | November 7, 2024

Howdy neighbors!

Few important updates ahead of our Neighborhood Meeting:

1) Looking forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting November 10th at 3PM!

  • What is it? Opportunity to hear neighborhood updates + vote to fill the 3 open board seats!
    • 4 Neighbors have expressed interest in running – see below for their Bios!
      • Interested in running for the board? Please respond here so we can share the names ahead of time!
  • Should you go?
    • Absolutely! This is your chance to have input on who the next board is (board works for the benefit of the hood, elects officers, adjusts rules, etc) and stay in the know!
  • Please note – topic of POA will be a separate meeting, but please read on below!
  • Remember: We need a certain percentage of due paying neighbors at the meeting for quorum – if you’re not able to attend but would like to vote, remember to vote via proxy using the form All in One mailed out!

2) POA Feedback

  • Are you concerned with the growing number of homes being converted to rentals in the neighborhood? An option to combat this is to convert to a POA – but this is a complex topic that requires a neighborhood vote.
  • Ahead of that vote – we’d love to take your questions/concerns directly to the lawyer so we can provide the most factual and update to date information before you make your choice
  • Please share your thoughts anonymously here POA Feedback Form

    3) Upcoming Events

    • Annual Ladies Christmas Craft Night! – Monday December 2nd
      • If interested in attending reach out to Sandra Bruce!
    • BREAKFAST WITH SANTA! (SANTAAAAAA I KNOW HIM!) – Saturday Dec 7th
      • It’s almost that time of year! Mark your calendars for this year’s Breakfast with Santa! For those of you new to the neighborhood- we always host this the first Saturday of December from 9-11AM. This is a FREE event for our HOA members. It is drop in and you can spend as little or as much time there. It’s a great time to meet neighbors and let the kids warm up to Santa while enjoying crafts and donuts (for the kids.) Don’t forget your cameras! We will NOT have a photographer present to take pictures. We hope to see you there!(Thank you Heidi Hager!! )<E104C1AA-3D11-481A-AC96-04BEFD7F4AC8.jpeg>“></li>

        Board of Director Candidate Bios:

        • Sandra Bruce
          • My family and I moved from Mableton to Walkers Ridge in July 2017 – the kids and I have all grown up in Cobb County. I have served as the Board Secretary for most of 2023 and all of 2024. I have volunteered as Clubhouse Chair for the past year and helped organize 2023 Ladies Christmas Craft Night and a Super Bowl party in February 2024. I also attend the monthly book club. It has been a true pleasure getting to know my neighbors through these activities.
          • Outside of the neighborhood, I am a retired HR Director from Georgia state government and currently work as a human resources consultant. When my girls were growing up, we joined Girl Scouts and by our 3rd year, I was the leader of a multi-level troop as large as 60 girls, based out of Powder Springs. I was raised in the Methodist church and had numerous leadership roles within my Austell home church before my children were born.  I was also active at McEachern Methodist for about 10 years.
          • It would be an honor to be a voting member of our HOA Board this year.
        • Nathan Norowski
          • My name is Nathan Norowski and my wife, Kayla, and I moved here in 2022. Since then we’ve had our first baby, Riley, who is about 15 months old. This past year I’ve served as communication co-chair with my wife, and have managed the neighborhood website.
          • Outside of the neighborhood I’m an avid hockey fan and work for the Home Depot. I graduated from Georgia Tech, and Kayla and I are members of Northside UMC.
          • I’m running for the board because we chose this neighborhood as a place where we could begin our family, and have full intention of being here for a long time. I’m passionate about doing the work to make this neighborhood the best it possibly can be for everyone here, and it would be an honor to serve the neighborhood as a board member.
        • Tyler Eason
          • Hi neighbors! My name is Tyler Eason and my wife, Katie, and I moved to Walker’s Ridge in 2021. We just welcomed our daughter, Harper, in August, and also have a Great Dane, Raleigh.
          • I work in Merchandising at the Home Depot, and am passionate about all things real estate and home improvement!
          • I chose to run for the board because I’m passionate about ensuring our neighborhood remains a kind, caring, and safe place to raise our family. I’m also passionate about protecting our neighbor’s property values and ensuring that our neighborhood remains a desirable place to live for years to come!
        • Corinne Tipsin
          • I have been a member f the neighborhood for 4 years, and have been the treasurer and board member since June when I volunteered to fill the empty positions.
          • I have experience in finance due to working for the Internal Revenue Service for the past 5 years, where I served as a Tax Examiner for the Small Business/Self-Employed Division.
          • The goals I hope to help our HOA accomplish are to: Maintain and improve the appearance and functions of our community, thus improving our property values, and to grow our reserve funds to allow us to make even greater improvements in the future.
